Core texts: Robotics Club

The core texts are I, Robot, by Isaac Asimov and Robots: Bringing Intelligent Machines to Life by Ruth Aylett.

The first book tells us about the dangers and potential uses of robotics in a fictional context and is the stimulus for learning on this course, while the second book is about the applications and history of robotics in context.

In addition to this it would also help if you have a computer of your own and I will have to ask Paco or James to install some software on the school computers to simulate robots. In addition if you own a LEGO Mindstorms kit (LEGO Mindstorms 9747: Robotics Invention System 1.5) or the newer (LEGO Mindstorms NXT) then you can have the fun of building and programming a real live robot, but it's not worth buying a kit just for the course. If you own it already then that's great else the simulator is all you really need.
